Logic weird automation issue - getting fed up now.............

YouTube - Logic automation issue.mp4

Soz for the poor quality. Check the were the playhead is and at what point the automation is actually being written................
In Latch mode it simply wouldn't write any automation whatsoever...........
Had to restart to make it function again.

Ive used Logic since 2.5 and it's my favorite sequencer but I've had enough of dealing with crap like this, everyday there's some little graphic bug or something else not working. PT8 here I come if Apple don't get their proverbial thumb out soon.............

Cheers

J

Don't wanna be an arrogant fukk, but make sure that you have installed the latest updates for Logic, and you should also repair permissions in Disk Utility after installations and updates.

Logic 8.0.2 on both my MacBook Pro and PowerMac G5 works flawless. Same goes for my band mates' MacBooks afaik.

It works fine here on my MB Pro with 8.02, too. I was screwing around with latch automation at the Apple Store yesterday, and it recorded and worked perfectly on every one of the 32 audio tracks.

Works perfectly here.

Could it be related to one specific 3rd party plug-in you're automating?

Or not having a completely updated system?

I just wiki'ed 'repair permissions' because I haven't heard of it and I found this:
Some users periodically perform a permissions repair to prevent errors from developing; a practice considered useless (and even "voodoo") by several for versions of Mac OS X after Panther.

voodoo or no?

I will say in the most truthful manner that the so-called 'voodoo' saved my ass 3 times in the last week, just by repairing permissions. I run the repair on a semi-daily basis. IT doesn't take much.

That is a false statement that should be removed, seriously.

8.02 still works fine on MBP.

I think also it´s not only Logic , it´s OSX Problems. ( Graphic Bugs etc )

I have the same issue with an old Logic 7 project I recently imported into 8.0.2. I have no automation problems with native Logic 8 projects, though.

Well, it's only 50% voodoo after all. ;-)

The function is there for a reason, and it certainly has its justification. File permission trouble is probably the no. 1 reason for problems on a Mac, though not all can be fixed simply by using the Disk Utility.
