I quite like the waves doubler in the traditional eventide/ams/SPX90 pitch up/down Left/Right fattener type role.

Haven't tried that, is that a preset in their 'Ultrapitch' plug?

The Doubler is an actual Waves plug in. You can set delays along with the detuning on each side. I made a preset similar to that thickening effect.

sounds interesting... what settings do you suggest?

fwiw, i came across a vst plug called discord that emulates an eventide h910. it's pretty cheap at $39 so i'm thinking of picking it up. anyone have any experience with it?

I went through the exact same process/search and ended up buying/using the Waves Doubler for my Cubase rig. I checked out the Audio Damage site and got antsy when I couldn't find a demo - homey don't play that

Can't speak about the Audio Damage but the Waves Doubler is good plug, good luck.

I tried discord, but it doesn't make it for me. Waves Doubler or doubling your track with SoundShifter is even better (require more cpu or bounce it). I'd like to find another plug than waves but I never find it...

I fond that the Audio Damage Discord 2 sounds much more like an Eventide H949 than the waves doubler which does nothing for me.

I never had the chance to have the eventide and the doubler side by side.
I take the risk to be flamed but maybe I prefer the sound of the doubler rather than the sound of the eventide.
Hopefully Internet is anonymous

Hmm I always use doubler 2 because it seems it was enough for an fx that often need to be subtle.
How do you use double 4?

IKM Amplitube 2.
Disable Amp and Cabinet modules and fire up the harmonizer. Pretty cool if you ask me.

I think the decca budy was a bold attempt of an harmonizer but it didn´t cut it IMO.
I guess Melodyne Plug perhaps could do it too, more CPU cycles to waste and a lot more tweaking to do but ... i´m gonna try it!!!

use it the same way. each ch has volume controls... i just adjust it until it gives me the sound i want.(adjust the pans also)
i can usually get the sound i want with doubler 2, but doubler 4 i can get a thicker sound that doesn't sound processed so i often use it too

Its too bad that the Eventide doesn't port their algorithms to offer a VST compatible set, because none of the other third party plugs that are out there do anything for me.

I use a hardware Eventide and its the only way to get those sounds IMO....

New to the site however I thought I would post a link to a harmonizer plugin...Ive been using it for a while.

There are very few choices out there for these types of plugins so hopfully someone will find use for this one...it seems to do the job well enough I think.

plugin is called sound touch Detuner

Are you only interested in doubling/delaying/detuning or do you also want to add a second/third/... voice?

I just usually just turn off Autotune to get a good detuned sound. Works well with modern music.

I would usually build my own in Max/MSP or PureData (free). You can even program it to follow a score for live performance. Pretty cool.

just to add, the waves doubler, while sometimes not convincing for classic eventide sounds, is actually VERY usefull on drums, with its octave drop feature. I just used it on some toms that were tuned really high and didnt have enough low end, so i used the doubler and mixed in the dropped voice at about -6 and it fattened up the toms very nicely without sounding like an effect...just sounded like bigger drums. helped me out a bunch.
