@Cover'd : Did you check Focusrite informations below ? : Hi All, Just to clarify matters regarding the new saffire pro 40. A few faulty cables were found in the very first batch of saffire pro 40's that shipped in the uk only. Fortunately the faulty cables were identified on the first day of shipping. All uk dealers were notified immediately and asked to swap out the firewire cables in the box just to make sure none of these faulty cables were used, since they could theoretically damage a connected saffire pro unit. Unfortunately it now seems that a tiny percentage of units did reach end users with the faulty cable still in the box. However, if any users have experienced any problems which still need resolving then we have stock available now at focusrite's uk hq, and we will of course be happy to immediately replace your unit and cable. The serial numbers of potentially affected units can be found here; Faulty firewire cables. .: Focusrite Answerbase If you own one of these units and it has already been powered up and is working ok with the supplied firewire cable then it means your unit and cable are working fine and are not affected by this issue. If you have received one of these units and have any worries at all, then please give us a call immediately on 01494-462246. If you have a working unit whose serial number is included on the list of those potentially affected, but have not used the supplied firewire cable, please discard the cable immediately and contact us for a replacement. Any units with serial numbers not included on the linked list are not affected. Best regards, Mick Gilbert Focusrite |

still waiting my harddrive back from Focusrite so can't add to my tracks that are on it so can't feedback about AD / preamps. However DA sounds clear (listening over HS50Ms) - much clearer than Motu Ultralite - Motu sounds softer, more mushy where as the pro 40 sounds harder and clearer. Listening to Stones "Beast of Burden" between the two the DA of the Pro 40 is definitely more revealing than the ultralite.

| Vista 64 Bit Drivers for Saffire Pro 40
I have a 64bit Vista machine and I've been trying to install the Saffire Pro 40 on it. I've been having trouble, as the drivers that come on the install disc are not compatible with 64bit Vista. Vista 64 service pack 1 requires all drivers to digitally signed. I specifically purchased this unit because the technical specs said it was compatible. After an e-mail to support, I got a link to beta drivers. Focusrite / Novation Beta Testing :: Releases I have yet to get it to install on my system, but I thought I'd share this and see if anyone has had a similar problem or found a solution. I thought I might have a problem with my computer and found this hotfix from Microsoft, but it didn't help: Even when a driver is digitally signed, Device Manager displays a "Not digitally signed" message for the driver on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 |

I have an Apogee Ensemble today, and I'm very interested in the Focusrite preamp modelling. Can I run the Saffire Pro 40 and the Ensemble at the same time?
