I want to record myself and need to get the computer out of the room to avoid noise. (Soft classical music) Is there a way to remotely operate pro tools (or other programs). The wire would need to be a minmum of 10-15 feet, but preferrably longer. I'd need to have a "confidence" feature to be sure it was running, and control of as many features as possible. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

I have a couple of solutions that we employ that dont require an huge outlay. One is to use a bluetooth phone as a transport control. Sony Ericsson K700i (and others) can be used as a mouse and there is even a bit of software to control Protools LE, which I have not tried. I'm a TDM user so not sure it would work anyway. Other than that I take me powerbook into the recording room and have it controlling (with Apple Remote Desktop) the main studio G5. I mainly do this late at night when the tape op guy goes home or when I want to experiment with vocals and dont want other ppl hearing me. :-) JR | |
