Adding a second MIDI controller to Pro Tools

I am running the following setup:

Digidesign Digi002
Pro Tools 7.4
Mac G5 (Tiger)
M-Audio Keystation 88

I would like to add a second MIDI keyboard controller to the setup, so that I can play different tracks from the two keyboards. I have such a keyboard, but despite several efforts (through both hardware and software means), I have not found a way to set them up such that they operate them independently - they always play the same track.

Is there a way to get two or more independent MIDI controllers working at the same time in Pro Tools?

Thanks in advance,

David

Are you using a midi interface or two USB controllers?

sure .. just make sure you can see them Setup->Midi->Midi Studio and
you're good to go.

what you're probably experiencing is that your keyboards are both responding to the same
MIDI channel. If you use MIDI thru (from one keyboard to the next) on the same MIDI
line, you'll have to change the reception channel on one of your keyboards from Channel 1 to
2 or some other channel (3 -> 16 ).

adding a second controller will certainly allow you to use both keyboards as each controller
is treated as a separate device.

jeff
ps: be mindful of Options->Midi Thru and what it does....
