Cubase SX and Dithering on the Rosetta 800

The dither question always gets me. So here is my scenario. I own an Apogee rosetta 800 96k version. The UV22HR is always on in the Rosetta (set-able to 16 or 24 bit). My sessions in Cubase are generally always 44.1k 24bit. Now how should I set up the dithering? I know my Rosetta should be set to 24bit dithering, but i also normally have a Waves L2 (thresh not dropped, ceiling at -.1) on my input channel to avoid clips. Should i turn off the dither in Waves, because my Rosetta is already Dithering? Also when I've recorded a solid mix into my session and i need to export to 44.1k 16bit, should I put the UV22HR plugin at 16bit on my master fader?

I would make sure any dithering is turned of with the waves plug in and put the UV22HR on slot 7 or 8 on the Cubase Master buss.

On your final master you will need to dither down to 16bit if you are going to make a cd.If you want to send the files for masterign then you do nto need to dither.

I fully understand your dithering approach on the Master Bus. And i understand turning OFF the dither in the L2 on the input channel. However the Rosetta ALWAYS has the dither on that you cannot turn off. I assume then that the Rosetta's dither should be set to the same bit resoltuion as my session ie: 24bit? correct? and if I was to do a 16 bit session it should be set to 16 bit. Right?

I think your apogee is just refering to it's recording bit rate
