eMac+ digi002?

how well will an eMac run with a digi002? ive got the eMac as powerful as an eMac can get- 1.25 GHz, 1GB ram.

I really want to get a digi002 system, but if it is not suggested I will look elsewhere

thanks in advance

I have no experience with that particular setup, but you should read the compatibility information on Digi's site:
http://www.digidesign.com/compato/osx/002/

They say that although the eMac G4 has not been specifically tested, there are no known differences in comparison to a similar iMac.

Sounds to me like you would be OK.

Don't expect to be doing large (24-32 tracks) PTLE sessions with many plug-ins with that little horsepower. I run a Powerbook 1.25 GHz, 1.5 MB RAM, and it chokes pretty fast when I start adding tracks, plugs, etc. But it has forced me to look at recording in ways that minimize CPU usage (like printing effects rather than using plug-ins on mixdown, submixing groups to stereo, using auxes instead of inserts for reverbs & compressors, etc.) when I'm working in LE. Oh, and the 002 is a cool box (console or rack mount), a huge step up from the old 001. Oh, and Apple announced a more powerful (1.42 Ghz) eMac just today.

Plug-ins will probably be the biggest problem, as noted. Some eMacs have a very robust hard drive/controller/throughput vis a vis newer, more expensive machines like the iMac G5, according to MacInTouch.

I run an eMac with digi002 and it works great! considering a lot of the studios around my area are still only running single processor G4s, i'm not exactly missing out on anything by recording at home!
