Thread Starter | Switching to Computer for Midi Playback
Hey there. I've been using the Roland MC500 MKII and the Roland MC80 for playing back midi files for our group for over 17 years. I'd like to switch over to a Mac laptop - and wonder if anyone has any favourite software programs for this type of work? The reasons I need to still play midi files are: 1. We use a sound module with 8 outs - and have separate things coming out of all 8 channels. I do this so I can add eq and reverb separately to the drums, bass, keys, brass, etc. 2. Our light show is run by midi & is pre-programmed. After 17 years - ya start to feel like one of those chickens at a carnival - when the light comes on you - it's your turn to sing... - we might actually get lost without those cues...![]() ![]() ![]() What I'd like is something that will let me set up playlists. Also I'd like the option to dump a 2 track mix of the song to the program and have it play while the midi for that song controls the lights only. I've thought about using Pro Tools (which I use in my home studio) - but not real comfortable in knowing that it will consistently be rock solid at show time. Thanks for any suggestions.
