Superior drummer 2.0, your approach re. Bleeds?

Im finding that with the o/h and ambiencde mikes Im having to turn the bleed levels way way way down for the individual peices to attain what sounds to me like a normally recorded o/h or amb. mike. If you leave them set as default, everything is just way over powering, especially snare and cymbals. So I find myself spending alot of time adjusting the bleed levels, often down to -30 db(or only just on) in the o.h and amb mikes to get them to sound realistic.

Am I doing something wrong or is this how you do it initially as well ?? If you leave the bleeds as default (jacked up to full), its impossible for the spot mikes to have any effect because you wont hear it from the massive levels in these particualar mikes!

Is this just my ears or am I missing something? Thanks. Look foward to your views on how you approach setting up the o/h and amb. mikes in respect to bleed.

I haven't used Superior Drummer but;
What do you usually hear in OH+Room mics if not snare and cymbals?

no, I mean its the level of snare and cymbals. As set , so as recorded, they just dont sound like a normal o/h to me because they are SOO loud. Im looking to see if its just me or not.

I guess i can't comment without hearing it, but i usually try have a full
balanced drumkit sound in the OH and ROOM mics so your description
of lots of snare and cymbals doesn't seem that odd. Except i try
and get a lot of kick also. And toms. Yeah everything. :P

But i'm not the type that highpasses OH's so take that as you will.
