Latency between outboard synths and software synths

Hi

Im using cubase SX along with a Midex 8 midi interface.....

I was wondering if anyone else suffers from latency between thier software synths and hardware synths.....

I am currently writing dance tracks using Reason 2.5 software for my drums and hardware synths Access Virus,Waldorf XT,Supernova.....

Anyway seeing as its dance music im writing, bad latency between the reason drums and hardware synths seems to be more obvious as the tracks are very repetitive......

Luckily im using a Yamaha 02r digital mixer which allows me to delay the input on individual channels....I set up a click track using the metronome on the P.C and a short bleep synth sound from one of the outboard synths.......Then by delaying the input channel on the metronome i managed to get them both playing in time....

Basically the hardware synths are out of sync by 11 milliseconds according to the delay i had to set on the metronome track......

Having set this delay time to all the reason channels coming into the 02r desk, the problem is solved.......

Does anyone else have this problem....?

Regards Paul

Yes I do. I use Logic Pro, though (on MacOS 10.3).

I once did a thorough latency-test to find out what is going on exactly because i experienced timing issues when combining softsyths and midi hardware.
And i found out that the softsynths and the audio click in Logic are spot on, however midi hardware will play AHEAD of the click depending on the chosen buffer size for my audio hardware (RME HDSP Digiface).

Logic has an option to enable a global midi delay though, so i set up that one correctly and no longer have to align timing manually. Works well for me now.

Maybe this is my problem when i load in drum loops into cubase, then it never sounds tight with my mpc or my hardware...

i wonder if there is a way to fix this in cubase.... ...
