UAD-1 Card performance?

Can anyone tell me about howe much power one card has? comparable to like maybe a PT Mix card or a TC Powercore firewire? i had a Powercore Firewire and i could run about 20 eqs on the thing or 8 Master X's. i assume the UAD is not as powerful. Can anyone tell me how many plugs you can get running? Like If I get the Ultra Pak could i run once instance of each all at once on one card?

A UAD-1 card can get 8 instances of the UA 1176LN.

An Accel card can get 9 instances of the UA 1176LN.

A PT Mix card can get 1 instance of the UA 1176LN per chip. I dont know how many chips are on the PT Mix card though.

Here is some more info.

A great 'how to guide' for using the UAD-1 in Protools HD.

Other UA plugins very quite differently..

As far as the PoCo card goes, one could probably do a fair comparison with the Sony EQ or a similar plugin that runs on both PoCo and PT Mix card.

I agree. It makes ya scratch your head over that one. Especially considering one Accel card is $4,995.00 USD.

Unless you ment $4,995.00 USD per chip.

I cant speak for myself but I know a few others who use the UAD-1 with thier HD rigs over the UAD TDM plugins. The cost of two UAD TDM plugins can get you a UAD-1 card with all of them including the ones that are not released on TDM.

The sound of your system depends on your converters, how good your wordclock is and of course your outboard.

Also, the resolution of your mixbus is a factor (e.g Nuendo has a 32Bit mixbus). Both UAD-1 and Pro Tools supports 192KHz samplerate so that's not something that would make a difference either.

Pro Tools does not have a superior sound in itself.
