Ableton Live 7 upgrade

Decided to get out my dusty copy of Live 6 and start playing with it again after not using for a year, didn't install it on my new build at the start of the year.

Was wondering if there was a huge difference between 6 and 7 and if the upgrade was a must-have?

thanks

Good question dude - in fact the answer is yes!

You get the slice audio to midi feature which is really nice and improved audio engine and much more - use google, don't be so lazy next time.

Thanks for answering your question! I bought and installed 7 several months ago, but haven't used it yet. But I think I upgraded from 4.14!

Looking forward to it. My new keyboardist is a big Live guy and I plan on using it with the band. So here's to further exploration!

Thanks for chiming in Henry - go test it out some time - it's great software and has a built in tutorial that explains it all nicely.

I will. I used the previous version quite a bit. But my uses are to append to band live performances. I need to start using it as a compositional tool as well, I guess. That would expand it usage for me.

I had growing pains using it with the band. They were really, really happy when I dropped it. Now this piano guy is willing to have his laptop and man the Live controls. That should make it a lot cooler. It's just too much leading the band, playing guitar and scrolling through foot pedals while watching the computer and opening/closing/opening files. Yikes.

Then setting up the Live files in the first place. I wasn't spending enough time playing guitar and writing.

That's quite a lot of juggling! must be hard to play with all that multi-tasking going on!
:-)

I'd like to +1 the recommendation of upgrading. Easily one of the best upgrades to live yet. If you write with it, drum racks are AMAZING. Since live 7 came out, I've ditched battery altogether. The other features mentioned are great as well. All in all, a very powerful program.

Do it, you won't regret it!

The sidechain compressor is worth the price alone.
