RME Fireface/TotalMix question

I purchased an RME Fireface 800 yesterday. So far I am very pleased but there’s something I can’t seem to figure out: how do you put a hardware insert like a compressor in the record path after the onboard pre? TotalMix seems pretty versatile but a little confusing.

The fireface doesn't have inserts I'm afraid.

I know that the Fireface has no psychical inserts. Thanks. But there is a way to do this with TotalMix. Anyone have experience with this?

Not to sure exactly, I run the multiface and believe the mix system is close. I think it has somthing to do with the submix section on the mixer. Thats where I would start. In my mixer on the right hand side where it says view you can select submix. From there i think you assign whichever input/output bus combos you want. Im not too sure because I do all of my routing within Logic. Hope this helps.

sure here how to do it

you'll use 2 out put and inputs though

route the signal from the pre directly to an out put

connect the ouyt put to a comp or what have you

connect its out puts to a new input

record the new in put
