Logic Copy and Paste Shortcuts?

I keep seeing tutorial videos on the internet where people have this short-cut of copying and pasting where they highlight a set of regions and drag it over. Anybody know the commands for this I know it is commonly used in many DAWS.

Also, do any Logic users here have any tricks for aligning audio regions? I keep having this problem where I shift an audio file down the timeline, and it ends up beings slightly off of the exact measure I want it at. Is there a function that alligns it to the closest marker for you?

Hold down the option key, then click and drag the region to the desired location. This works for Logic and Abelton. Obviously this is Mac only.

Make sure that the option 'snap to absolute valeu' is selected in the snap menu in the upper-right coner of the screen.

yeah, like jasper pointed out . holding opt while dragging copys what you are dragging....this is definately a MAC thing cause it works in most apple apps and even the finder

make sure the arrange is set to smart snapping - this will line the things uup, assuming you dropped them somewhere in the right place

get familiar with the marque tool - it will become your best friend!!!!!!

mine is the right click on mighty mouse

thanks guys much appreciated! You have no idea how frustrated it was having to zoom in to shift audio parts on my tiny 15" macbook pro screen.

Check out the keycommands.
There's for example one that moves the selection to the SPL.
Pickup clock (move event to SPL position)
Don't know the original short-cut, I changed it to "J" like in Pro Tools.

Limit dragging in one direction

Hi

Check out the "limit dragging to one direction" (or something like that...) I don't have Logic right here, so can't remember where you find this, but it must be in preferences somewhere. With this option selected you can only drag your objects in one direction at a time. Meaning if you drag a region between tracks, you will never loose the timing.
