Thread Starter | OWC = Garbage RAM
I order some RAM from Other World Computing (Kingston). OWC "claims" it's the same RAM that Apple sells you. So I bought into it. I order a 1 GB chip for my new Powerbook. I could not install Logic at all I kept getting errors. So I pull the RAM (Left the stock 512MB in) and the install went OK. I called OWC and they sent me out another stick I returned the old one (at my cost). Tryed it again crashing about 5 crashes it 5 hours. Then installed some Apple Jam packs same errors could not complete the install. Pulled the OWC RAM and bought some Corsair RAM. Everything worked! Tried to get a refund from OWC 15 % retocking fee plus out shipping again. No more cheap RAM for me. Lesson learned. The money was not that big of a deal but 2 days of frustation plus almost an hour on hold at OWC really turned my off them. dfegad OWC |
