my own personal favorite having tried them all is powertracks from pgmusic.com for the following reasons....
1. range of features for the low price.
2. rock solid day in/out stability
3. no dongle.
4. fair low priced upgrade cost between versions.
i should tell you that people are very sceptical until they actually try this product. but those who know about it and use it day
are huge fans. just try the demo at pg and talk to other users like me at the pg powertracks forums.
try it on a nice amd 64 desktop pc with a decent set of soundcard convertors and youll be surprised.

I'd have to second Ruudman's question:
Why not Protools?
On the midi-front Logic is still the best, but for tracking and audio-editing it's gotta be Protools...

Cheers, Julian

I agree, PT is still best for recording/editing audio.

Samplitude 7.2x. I'm not a fan of PT on the PC, but think it's fine on Mac.

for all three.... Pro Tools

Sorry. When it comes to audio. Protools

Midi.. well if its basic stuff like ambient pads and simple not toooo intensive midi editing Pro Tools handles that just fine.

For complex crazy stuff. midi-drum wizardry, Delay lines, etc etc Yes then its Logic.

Anyone every try to do Post production (for picture) in Logic..... its Shite. i'd rather do it in Final Cut Pro... which in itself is rubbish with audio.

Samplitude. I tried Nuendo, PT's and Sam when I decided to buy my first rig about 3 1/2 years ago. I had used PT's so I knew what it was about so I tried Nuendo and Sam and like Sam alot better. The object editor is incredible and is simple to use. I had also noticed that alot of guys that were doing classical recording were using Sam because they felt it sounded superior. I definitely thought it was the best sounding and to this day I can hear a difference from Sonar 4 to Sam 7. At the time Nuendo 2 had not even come out so I tried 1.4 or something like that.

Come on, with all those calculated fades, gains and other tiring old-stone age rigidities ?
You can do all this (plus tons of other things) 100x faster and smoother in Samplitude or Nuendo ... I worked in PT for 3 years, would never go back .... I really wonder how something like this could become an "industry standard".Unless you try other system, you may think it is OK...

Why not PT?
To me, PT is the best to record/edit.
To edit, Nuendo comes close.
I never mixed on anything else than PT.

Currently SX2 ,i got SX 3 but it has issues related with my audio interface that will be solved next update.

High profile pros when they hear calling Pro Tools a industry standart they shure laugh at that snobery and ill judgemment.
