Thread Starter | Why is MIDI better in Logic than Pro Tools?
I really like MIDI in Pro Tools. I've tried Logic as well, but it doesn't seem as intuitive. I'm comfortable in both, but if I had to choose, I would still go with Pro Tools. What am I missing?

all the fantastic stuff you can do in the Environment, plus all the great and wide selection of Logic's VI's... having said that, I agree that there is some kind of simplicity that is appealing when working in PT. I've also figured out how to run Mainstage along side Pro Tools using the IAC buss and patching audio externally. Works like a champ |

you've probably just gotten used to doing it in protools. many feel that logic is far more intuitive though

I've never heard anyone use the word "fantastic" in the same sentence as "environment." But I do like the virtual instruments a lot. For me thats really the main thing. I've been trying to come up with a way to play logic instruments out of my soundcard using protools to trigger it... Im getting there. I do like how when you adjust velocities in logic, it plays the velocities for you so you can hear what youre doing... Other than that, I like pro tools. Thanks guys.

lately in protools havent been using midi at all for hardware synths. playing live then lightly quantizing the audio when needed- duplicate/repeat- done!

I really like the midi in pro tools as well. honestly, I think those who dog it, are speaking from past experience, like before 6 and 7 releases. PT has really improved and added usefull features. Logic has score implementation built in, so thats a bonus, as well as some other things one might find somewhat usefull, but for my work flow, I haven't really run into things I don't like too much about PT's midi. |
