Queston for all you Cubase and Nuendo users...

This is a routing question... is there anyway to route an audio channel to more than one group channel without using the aux sends? For example having one channel feed four group outputs, like routing a signal to groups 1/2, 3/4, L/R on an analog board?

I don't think so. Everytime I needed such a thing I used the sends. Why don't you want to use sends?

Nothing wrong with the sends its just that I realized the other day there was no other way to do it. I thought that if they designed the mixer after an analog one that maybe bussing to multiple groups would be included, but I guess it's not.

This is just one example of many that I can think of...

Say you have a mix and your using all your sends for fx and you want to send the 2bus signal to your speakers but also to say a tape machine or to a headphone amp. It sure would be nice to have multiple output channels being fed from that same source. There is ways to do this outa the box but I'm just trying to figure out ways to do it in the software. I guess my situation is not the most typiccal one with everyone mixing in the box and boucing to disc these days.

My soundcard (Fireface 800) has mix software that runs concurrently with Cubase. Using that software I can send the main output bus from Cubase simultaneously into any of the hardware outs on the soundcard, and from there to any variety of devices. You might consider getting a soundcard that offers similar functionality.

Yep, RME.

I believe MOTU sound cards have similar mix software, though I think most people around here would recommend the RME for it's audio quality over the MOTU stuff.

The RME mix software is easy to use, with a simple matrix grid used to assign channels to outputs. It has 8 slots for saving different setups, which includes all the routings, which comes in quite handy.

DEFINITELY go with the RME sound cards. Sooooo much better on ALL counts.

As to the routing... you know you are right. There is no way to do what you suggest. It would actually be a cool addition. I will suggest to them. Another thing I have long wished it would do is an internal sum of inputs. In otherwords, I would like to be able to sum inputs 1, 2,3 and 4 to track 10 or whatever. I often want multi mics on say.... a guitar amp, but I want to commit and only use one track. Saves me a lot of time on the back end. Right now I have to have an external mixer to do that. :( Another suggestion I need to make... lol.
