MCDSP Channel G impressions, + graphic bug

I'm testing this plug right now, and I must say that the compressor sounds really good!
Haven't done any tweaking with the eq yet..
Other than I noticed how good the filter worked in the 80 Hz region..

But I'm experiencing trouble with the graphics;
it's slow and the eq-models won't reset themselves graphically in the freq window.

So is it officially buggy? Others have comments on the plug or on the bug?

What was funny was, after I used it, I posted on the DUC saying that I liked what I heard so far, but at that price I would pass. Then the next day I inserted the plugin to play with it some more since I should have 13 days left on the demo, and BAM!! The demo expired.

For a second there, I thought Collin had some spies at the DUC and once they knew I wasn't going to buy their plugin they took their demo away from me.

However, I must say that McDSP plugins kick ass

So, did you get a full reset of the demo-period?

Anyone compared the channel to the comp bank? I'm in the market for a good comp plug and it seems the Sony comp and Comp bank are 2 of the best......

Nope, but I didn't ask for one either. I figure, I'm not going to buy it any time soon, so why bother. I'm pretty sure they would've given me a full reset if I asked. They've got great customer service at McDSP. Ok, enough ass kissin! I'm outta here!

I've compared them, and my top 3 PT comp plug ranking list is:

UA 1176, Sony comp, Channel G.

Those three are different beasts allright, but they're all standing just outside the ballpark where the analog brothers play..

The comp bank is an amazing product. With so many options, low
in dsp, and acceptable sound, it has been a lifesaver for many mixes around.
But Channel G sounds more integrated.
It uses about 12% of a HD chip (Channel Compressor),
that's really impressive compared to the UA!!
The forward feed (think API) emulation is fantastic thumbsup

But, the let down is the price-tag.
I wish they could split the plug in 2 products: Eq and Compressor.

ruudman-

Is it possible then to just get a UAD 1176 plug for PT HD without an external card? Thanks,
Tim

ps. Whats your favorite for snare...and vocals?

Yes it's possible, or as a bundle with the LA-2a.
I believe the best price I've found is at audiomidi.com

For snare, I really like the 1176, but the Channel G looks
promising. If it's badly recorded, the Sony is a lifesaver with all its bells'n whistles

For vocal, Sony ain't bad. But I think the Channel G looks promising in that departement as well....

I tried it but couldn't decide if I liked it or not. Graphics were slow here too so its not just you.
