Now this is just plain troll-ish and should be deleted by a moderator.

Sorry... not trying to be a troll... just sick of being a beta tester for something I paid for and took 5 years to come out!!!

Therefore I think the name "betastudio" is more than fair.

That's fine and all. I'd be pissed (in an American sense) if I got screwed into buying expensive software that may or may not be buggy. I mean, I tried the [K](not even a legit version) on a limited demo run and didn't run into the problems you have, but you've already started one thread to address the issue(s), and this very ambigious one should be in the "moan zone", at best. It just sets off the bullsh¡t detector in my mind and makes me wonder if you work for a competitor (do you?) or have some other conflict of interest, when anyone "new" to a forum multi-posts complaints about something. I'm sure you understand.

E-cue, marry me!
All jokes aside; it's true that Nemesys isn't really popular
for their quick releases and updates.
But hey, GS3 isn't actually just an update, right?
They totally changed the GUI, lots of other performance-enhancements, a new convolution plugin,etc...
If GS3 is too buggy for one's computer (ofcourse don't try and run it on a PIII-500), get a dedicated one, only for Gigastudio.
After all...it's a sampler!

As a longtime Kontakt user I finally broke down and got the new Gigastudio to see what I was missing...apparently a lot!

It's been so much more stable in ReWire mode with Nuendo 3 than the Kontakt VSTi. At least for large Piano samples with long releases and sustain. It finally sounds and feels like a real world class piano without requiring me to add judicious amounts of EQ and signal processing (OK, I did patch it through my SLAM, but even still...).

So I'm sorry your experiences have been so problematic or disappointing (to be fair, my install choked a couple of times on plugins). I can attest to being at least one user who's had a positive encounter with the new version.

I have Gigastudio 160 v2.5 - is it worth the $249 to upgrade?

The new reverbs and eqs make it tempting (as this was my biggest beef with 2.5), but right now I run the sounds out dry to my mixer/outboard.

Opinions?

Hey all, this is my first post here.... I use GS mainly for drum programming, with the Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums (a great library) and Purrrfect Drums (another great library). I run it on a dedicated PC to keep things simple with a minimum of dependencies.

I also wanted to say that GS3 may have some bugs, but the worst of them seem to have been worked out with the v3.04 patch. I've been a user since GigaSampler 1.0 way back in the 90s.

The convolution effect bundled with GS3 is quite amazing! I have not had any of the described problems. Users with unresolvable bugs should try running on a different computer if at all possible. That's just one of the downsides of using a Windows PC for music production... so many kinds of hardware and software that some combos just don't play well together.

well i had a couple bugs too.....BUT......

GS3 can now address all available ram (above the previous 1GB limit) and is generally way more efficient CPU and Ram-wise which is awesome

I used to be constantly watching the memory meter....now i don't think about it.....

the editor is way better.....

overall a really worthwhile update for me

When you guys bought GS3, was it obvious to you that the included 'sample library' was only intended as demos?

I thought of it as a major selling point (since they always talk about how much bigger the library is with the larger programs), and was pretty ticked off when I discovered 2/3rds of the included gigs are only demos.

Maybe it's just me...
I was also annoyed to discover that you have to buy Orchestra to actually be able to USE the software 'verb.
Otherwise you're stuck with a basic 'ON/OFF' switch.
Just askin' if anyone else was...confused....as I was.
Almost want to return it, but there's nothing better, and it was such a hassle just getting the thing in the first place from West LA Music (though it was not really their fault, but it was still unpleasant) that I don't really want to do that.

I had Giga3 installed on my Carillon a couple of weeks ago and apart from a couple of crashes it's been very stable. Far easier to use and see what you are doing than the old version, and having eq and compression on every channel is worth the upgrade alone!

And you can put together an extremely nice kit using the Larry Seyer acoustic drums demo as well ...

It was pretty obvious the demo libraries included would be of little actual use. It does come with several complete pianos, though. I bought the Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums as my first GS3 library purchase and I'm very happy with it.

There are however quite a few GigaPulse impulses that came included that are not disabled in any way. I doubt the reverbs would qualify as particularly slutty in light of the high end users here, but for me, I'm very impressed.
