Thread Starter | voxengo analogflux tapebus plugin VS Fatso JR Hello, did anybody compare the voxengo analogflux tapebus plugin to the empirical labs Fatso Jr. device? I am very curious how (and if) they compare ...... cheers, Olaf |

| You know, I have the fatso and the voxengo pack. How would I make a comparison that is fair? The two interfaces have such different controls. I would be glad to do it but I don't feel like anything that I would do would be worthy. Let me know Kelly |

| Get a nice sound with the Fatso, then try to duplicate that sound with Voxengo Tapebus. This is assuming that the Fatso is more capable than the Voxengo. Steps for correct A/B 1.You have to play .wav file X thru the output of the DAC into the Fatso, then record back into the A/D. 2.Then run .wav file x thru output of the DAC into the A/D without any analog processing, and apply the Voxengo to the recorded file. Any color or distortion added by the A/D D/A process will be present in both files so it will be a fair A/B comparison.

| What type of pleasing processing would you want out of the fatso. subtle/extreme? Drum loop/Acoustic guitar/vocal? Let me know, I'll try to get it done for you in the next few days. Kelly |

| Drum loop. Thicken it up with fatso. It should be more than moderate, but not too extreme. It would be great if you could post a jpeg of the Fatsos settings. Dont forget to post the .wav file of the audio running out the D/A and back into the A/D also. |

| I'd be very interested to hear this comparison too! A crunchy drum-loop would be great. I'm very happy with the Voxengo AFTapeBus already though. I think it is the ultimate VST for thickening/fattening/glueing together sounds. I am guessing the Fatso will sound pretty different due to the largely different control sets, and the fact that the Fatso generates all its distortion in the analog domain (as far as I know).

| I've found that TapeBus sounds awesome on individual tracks and really can make am ix sound more... uhhh. tape sounding. I did however find that it was hard to get it not to do "too much" on a whole mix during the mastering stage. Steve www.bangrecording.com www.blacklinerock.com |
