If the bass is vibrating the computer chassis, it could be vibrating the inner circuitry components which could be bad for it in the long run. stike

I think it's a valid concern.

Get them close enough and magnetism (in addition to vibration) could be an issue.

Many of us have likely seen the magnetism from less-than-perfectly shielded monitors distort the image on a CRT monitor.

Granted that hard drives are pretty resistant to such issues but, then, I like to give stuff like this just a little extra wiggle room.

the magnetism of a speaker will not hurt a hard drive. i have on many occasions tried to erase a hard drive using a very powerful electromagnet. left the drives attached to the electromagnet overnight with no success.

I believe Genelecs are shielded to avoid interference so I don't think it will mater as far as magnetic fields are concerned. Also, vibration from sound waves should not affect the computer at all. There are several moving parts that cause vibrations whenever the computer is on. These things (fan, HDD, CD/DVD, etc.) would cause more severe vibrations than a single Genelec monitor because they are directly attached to the computer chassis, especially at 15in apart. You don't have anything to worry about.

Agreed....Any good set of monitors will be magnetically shielded. Only concern would be vibration and that's only if you are blasting them.

That said, there IS a huge difference between an 8020 and a 1037 or 7070a.
