Number one request of mine as it has been for, what, 3 years now???
FIX MUTLI-CHANNEL VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS!!!!
They should AT LEAST work as well as their MIDI ancestors, with individual channel control over panning and volume. Not being able to mix VI's as easily as MIDI has been one of the biggest time wasters for years in Logic, and it's an embarrassingly overdue 'feature' already long since provided by all their major competitors.
And trust me, I know all the workarounds. But they are WORKAROUNDS. It should just WORK.
Other than that...
Bring back "set audio filepath". Not being able to name your recording files like you could in L7 is a huge step back. I really hate this about L8. They should at least steal their own system from Final Cut Pro, which allows you to set a prefix to each new file so you can tell which project it belongs to. The current system leaves you with a hundred folders named "Audio Files" and a million files named "Guitar". Ugh.
Elastic Audio - that'd be nice.
Mix/Automation "takes". I'd like to be able to have one project contain various 'takes' of automation so I wouldn't need to resave (and reload) the entire thing just to hear different mixes. Should work something like the 'tempo alternatives' list.
A 'Burn' feature to match the "Freeze" feature. 'Burn' would apply all your plugins to the track, in place, leaving you with a 'finished' audio file that could be edited and move around (unlike Freeze files). It'd be nice if 'Burn' would also turn VI channels into audio channels too...
FIX the comping feature or at the very least allow users to turn it off
Get rid of Busses and leave only Aux's. You know it's gonna happen eventually and having both is just needless confusion and clutter, kept only for loading old projects. Which actually doesn't work very well anyway.
A 'ping' feature for external outboard.
NO new plugins or loops or other crap-ware until the program is rock solid.
I expect these changes to happen sometime in lat 2084.
