Waves SSL Authorization On An Intel

I have the Waves SSL which I used quite a bit and I've been running them on my G5 Quad with an iLok. So now I get an Intel and I'm installing all my software onto it and Waves is giving me a big problem.

The iLok says i am authorized for the SSL bundle and the 5.9 enabler. When I try to authorize on my Intel I get the web page saying 'I have no pending authoriztions....blah blah blah....'

If it's authorized on the iLok shouldn't I be able to just plug and play? Anyone else deal with this?

Of course my 'waves warranty' expired and for any support I'll need to cough up $150.

Anyone have any suggestions?

$150? Is that the TDM or native? I ask because I bought the native version with the understanding that WUP would be about $50.

Might be $150 for TDM- I'm running native. Still - $50 to answer a simple question...

I'm pretty sure you're not going to be able to authorize unless you pay your WUP unless there's some workaround I don't know about.

I believe you will have to re-WUP.... and it should be under $100 for native (it cost me $200 for Mercury and SSL).

Waves will answer your question, though... Just contact them, contrary to popular internet opinion they have very good customer service.

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Thanks Tony but it's not good customer service to charge $ to answer a question that no other software company charges for. There's no justification.

OK so I was confused about the 5.9 enabler. You have to re-WUP for the Leopard version which cost me $153 but will eventually include version 6 which - according to an email from a Waves sales staffer - will have the SSL G channel. thumbsup

That's what bugged me for a while but then I get the email from sales about version 6 which will be a paid upgrade anyway. Then there's the G Series channel which was neither confirmed or denied by the staffer on the phone but I do have it in the email they sent to me. I figured it's worth it for that.

I'm Done With WAVES!

So....after all that crap Waves 6 removes and disables all previous versions and IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH LOGIC 7.

So if I install Waves 6 (which I did on my clone drive just to see what happens) I cannot use my whole SSL collection in any projects I did in Logic 7 only Logic 8.

I spoke with a waves rep and they said 'they have to disable waves 5 to give you version 6'. No technical reason just some corporate crap.

Why they can't let you use W5 in old projects with W6 is complete B.S. So I'm through with them.

dfegad WAVES
