| Wich Asus MB to choose ? Hi, I´m planning to upgrade to a Intel Quad core Q6600. Now I´m working with a P4 2.8 and using an MBox and a M-Audio Profire Lightbridge running PT LE and PT MPowered and woks great but I need more computer power. What I would like to know is wich Asus MB you guys are using with this interfaces. I have looked at Digidesign page but there is little information about the new chipsets and that stuff. I want to continue using my currents interfaces and software ( I also use nuendo 3 for MIDI programimg ). Thanks |

| Any of the P5 series. Well tried and trusted for DAW use, especially in combo with that CPU. I completed a new build two weeks ago and it toook me half a day with no surprises.

| i recommend all non-deluxe and non -E/SE/... versions. you don´t want that much irq-conflicts/troubles. i tested all chipsets and mostly all of the mobos available. the asus p5k series with its p35 chipset is the best to go at the moment. all higher chipsets are designed for DDR3 which isn´t interesting at the moment. the DDR2 implementation on this boards is a workaround so don´t take them. the asus p5kws is a workhorse, my nr.1 recommendation. the asus p5wdg2 is not the newest, but one of the best so nr.2 look also at intel boards, but be aware of gimmicks as wlan/onboard vga/superduper onboard audio, you won´t like them in a daw.

| Re: MB's I've been using an older Asus P5B-E board for the last 1-1/2 years with an Intel Core 2 E6300 cpu ...has worked great. Last week I updated the bios on it and I am now installing a Intel Q9450 this weekend since the bios update now supports a Quad.
