Out of range message from new display

hello everyone,

This afternoon I connected a new 24" display to my old G4 1Ghz DP. I only had a few minutes to mess around at the time, but all resolutions in the displays section of the system preferences worked fine and the refresh rate was selectable. While playing around I selected 120 Hz and now several of the resolution result in an "out of range" message from the display, and several where I cannot hit escape and revert to the old resolution. Also all refresh rates are now grayed out. I've zapped PRAM a couple times, done the nvreset thing, but I cannot get back to the way the system was when I first installed the monitor. Is there a preference file I can delete? What's the deal?

Any help would be appreciated, I was supposed to be working 2.5 hours ago....

James

Hook up an older CRT monitor to the Mac and reset your video settings. You won't be able to do it with the new monitor.

Either that or zap your pram..though you might reset some other settings you don't not want to reset :x

Alternatively, try sticking in your mac os boot disc..i seem to recall when booting from this that it goes to a low resolution.
Then perhaps you can delete your monitor preferences...

Cheers,

Joe

Thanks for your help. Where does OSX put the monitor prefs? I never did find them.
