what hard drive do you use for system disk?

what hard drive do you use for audio?

sata all the way?

I use IDE drive for system and 10K SCSI for audio. No problems so far

Thats on Mix plus, PT6.4

anyone tried western digital raptor drives 10000RPM for both system and audio for PT mix?

10,000rpm is overkill. 7200rpm is plenty, and will have a longer operating lifespan due to reduced mechanical wear.

I use internal SATA for system and external USB for audio/samples.

do you get full track count , 64 tracks ??

this is from the digi compatibility page for PT 6.4..1 on win XP:

Up to 32 track, 24 bit, 48 KHz performance from one dedicated internal IDE/ATA audio drive is supported.
Drives must meet the following requirements:
Minimum Drive Requirements
  • Disk drive rotational speed: minimum 7200 RPM
  • Average seek time of less than 10.0 ms
so is there problems using all 64 tracks with plugs running 7200RPM? the seek time is alot less on the 10000RPM raptor drives
