Thread Starter | "reversing" reverb/echo?
A film maker did an interview for a documentary and the audio is full of echo/reverb, from the tiled room. Any way to reverse this or to mask the effect? Thanks rll |

The waves C1 plugin has a preset that dereverbs things. It works okay, and it's tweakable.

As long as you've recorded it close enough (with good enough transients that is), I would try either the SPL Transient Designer or a VST plugin called Dominion (free!), which roughly does the same thing. With it you can change the attack/decay characteristics of a sound; it is often used to tweak drumsounds and give them more or less roomsound. I recorded some bulletshell drops for a movie in a bathroom (the scene was set in a parking garage) and with added reverb it sounded great. However, later on I wanted to use them in another scene which was outside. I used Dominion to dial back the decay characteristics of the sound and it nearly took all the roomsound off! It won't kill it, but you'll be surprised at the results. Try the plugin, it's free so you can't go far wrong. Cheers, Joe |
