In your Key Commands editor, you can set the command "Close Window" to any key you like. You can check your current setting from your Logic menu bar under File.

It works fine for me in Logic 8. but the default keys are 'Command + W'

Alternatively, bring up your Key Commands window and search for 'close window' - use the 'learn by key label' function and choose something like Shift + Command + W as your assigned keys. This will mean you have to alter your habit slightly but it will stop the arrange page closing.

Make sure you have the plug-in window selected before hitting command-w

Command-W is the default setting for "Close Project", not "Close Window".

Also, there's a key command option for hiding/showing all plug-ins.

Can be quite handy.

If you lock the screenset before you open the plug-in(s) then simply hitting the screenset's number returns you to its previous state.
