Have you been able to import Safari bookmarks into Firefox? And if so, how?

I got this tidbit from the mozilla user forum

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11550

The utility described in the above link is useful to export your Safari bookmarks to a file. Then you may import the file into your Firefox bookmarks by going to the bookmarks menu and selecting manage bookmarks. In the bookmarks manager, select import from the file menu and follow the wizard._ _

...works like a charm. I just did it.

Another application ($12) called "BookIt" worked for me very well (importing and exporting TO and FROM Safari, IE, and Firefox). I'm not the developer, but here's the link:

It's not just an improvement for Macs. Savvy Windows users are switching to Firefox as well. Cooler and way less security issues. I've been on some variant of the Mozilla base for years. It's amazing how many less security issues that come up vs IE.

I have been using a 17" Powerbook and have noticed that Safari has issues in a number of settings. I could not log onto the net in my hotel through Safari, but Firefox and IE were both fine.

flexoffset, thanks for that link! Using that application, importing my Safari bookmarks into Firefox was an absolutely brainless and fast operation.

I use the arrow keys on my Powerbook for scrolling and they are slower in Firefox. Also, I've gotten really used to using the Delete key for going back a page in Safari. It's a bit faster but I'm not seeing huge gains like everyone else.

found something else I'm not digging about Firefox. It doesn't autofill for you in the address window. Safari will autofill addresses based on history and bookmarks and let you choose which one to go to. hope this makes sense.

I'm with Drew. I've never really had any issues with Safari and I don't notice any speed diff going to Firefox.

totally agreed on using it on my windows box. i'm happy enough with safari on my powermacs and powerbooks, but i just have to say no to IE on windows. so i'm using firefox right now and have been very very happy with that move. (windows 2000 machine)

Jules,
that white drive is just a mounted disk image. throwing that away is just "ejecting" it. there whould still be .dmg file on your computer that you use to re launch it.

If you downloaded firefox as a dmg 'image' file, that is a little disk drive looking icon that appears on the desktop

Inside the little white disk drive is firefox

Like any downloaded application, Firefox application needs to end up in the APPLICATIONS folder

You need to drag it (copy it) to the applications folder and run it from there

Which means you can then get rid of the little disk drive thing, and the .dmg file that it derived from

By the way, the new mac operating system is due out mid April, and I would imagine that the new version of Safari that ships with it to be rather cool, so I may then jump back over to Safari then to take advantage of the RSS stuff etc
