ProTools 6.7/ RTAS on Aux Sends

With the release of PT 6.7 including support for RTAS plug ins on Auxes, is it still AS necessary to purchase TDM versions of ALL plug ins for us TDM users?

Would this imply that plug in developers who provide TDM capable products will have to create a new price, since most people would inevitably choose to save a few bucks and just purchase the RTAS versions anyway.

Obviously, there is still a need for DSP and I don't see this as an obliteration of TDM systems, but I can see this as being a possible alternative to the HTDM prices, i.e Altiverb HTDM. Waves would be another company to which this could be a bit detrimental as they tend to double the price for the TDM versions. AutoTune also, comes to mind.

Anyone else care to comment or is this just a product of my over-active imagination?

For technical reasons, as described in: this document RTAS plug-ins don't work on record armed audio tracks and must preced TDM plug-ins. RTAS plug-in can only be used on Aux tracks after an RTAS instrument.. an Aux track can't be set to an input and then feed an RTAS plug-in.. this is a technical limitation, not a design choice.

Given all these limitations, it's still better to use TDM plug-ins which also report the correct ADC values to Pro Tools.

Didn't realize this limitation was the same as with audio tracks under the new revision, although it does make sense. But, this still doesn't answer the question, even though, it's really just a topic for discussion. I appreciate the insight, though.

The question was presented with regards to economics and pragmatism.
