Digidesign 002 Firewire Ports Not Working

Here is my situation... I have a 002 and a firewire drive that I plugged into an eMachine PC (one on the front FW port the other on the rear). Neither device was recognized by Windows. I remove the devices from the eMachine and try them on my Macbook Pro, again they are not recognized. I do have PTLE on both machines so the drivers for the 002 are installed. Both devices were working on another iMac before they were plugged into the eMachine. I already know that eMachines are cheap crappy PCs, but why would the firewire bus fry my devices? Anybody ever heard of anything like this happening?

BTW, the drive still functions with FW800 and USB connections, only the FW400 connection is not functioning.

If the 002 is fried what are my options for repair? Anybody ever had a similar repair on a 002?

This used to be a known issue with some of the 002R units. You need to swap something inside the unit or have it done by digidesign themselves. Anyways, you need to contact digi support.
