Pro-tools LE crash

Could somebody please help!!

A few weeks ago my Pro Tools LE/M-box system crashed and then would not open. Each time you clicked the icon, it would bounce then crash. It continued to do this. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Pro Tools, but now when I turn my computer on it does not even start up the M Box as in normally does, so Pro Tools won't even open. I've been onto some forums and got some hints but currently nothing's worked. I looked at my system log files and found something that I don't understand, but may be the problem.

I am running on a Mac Mini, OS X 10.4.11 Pro Tools 7.0:

There's your problem - go to the Digi site and check the compatibility docs.

I realize that there may be some compatibility isssues.

In the Compatability sexion on the Digi site, M Box 2, it says this:

Mac OS X 10.4 (and Other Apple Software Updates) & Pro Tools Launch Failure/Bouncing Icon in Dock
Although Mac OS X 10.4.10 and 10.4.11 have not been tested or qualified by Digidesign, the only known issue at this time has to do with Pro Tools failure to launch in some cases due to improper prebinding.

In many cases, downloading and running the Mac OS X Prebinding Script from PACE may resolve the issues described above:
Mac OS X Prebinding Script & Instructions
See "Other Apple Software & Pro Tools Launch Failure" below for more information.

Tried this and it doesn't work - Going to upgrade my protools to the only up grade that seems available 7.1.1 and do a combo upgrade on my OS X and see what happens. Help!?

a combo update to OSX wont help you, as there is no way to 'downgrade' to 10.4.9 without doing.....(see below)

what you should really do is back up all your data, documents, music, etc... and FORMAT your drive. do a fresh install of 10.4.x and do a combo update to 10.4.9

DO NOT UPDATE PAST 10.4.9!
turn off automatic updates immediately. before you even do anything else, go into system preferences and turn off automatic updates.

then install PT.

10.4.11 is nothing but headaches.

Truth be told I'm pretty clueless about Mac's especially the technical side.

Is it possible to just reinstall the OS X I bought the MAC MINI with by putting the installation CD in!? Would that be "RE-FORMATTING" the HD?! I've tried to find out online and it talks a lot about going to Disk Utilities and doing a disk erase. Not sure which to do. Please help!?

Mac Mini not communication with the MBox

HELP!!!!!

I've done all this an now my Mac Mini won't even recognize the MBox, as if the CoreAudio Driver is not being installed properly. I have absolutely NO idea what is going on here. Done exactly as has been said. Now if I try to launch protools it freezes the whole computer up and requires me to hold the power butten to restart. If anyone has any suggestions thaat would be AWESOME! I have a job tomorrow afternoon which I won't be able to do unless I get this sorted out. THANKS!!!!

Don't have another computer (other mac or even a PC) that you can try the Mbox on do you?

Have you done the full reformat? I'd also upgrade to 7.4 if you can - it's not expensive and worthwhile improvement in features - if you can get the Mbox running agian that is!

No other Mac!

Did think of installing Protools on another Mac and try the Mbox on that but the ones we do have in the office are running on OS X 10.4.10 or higher which I have been told does not work well with Pro tools 7.0, which is what I have. So, what I'd have to do is upgrade my protools to 7.4 and then also my OS X system as well I assume!? In the meantime I have got to get it working NOW!!! There is a problem with the CoreAudio Driver which when I installed protools does not register or install properly!!!

Protools le crash!!!!

My Pro Tools System started crashing on launch a couple weeks ago, and finally wouldn't open altogether. I have backed up my hard drive, reinstalled the OS X to it original when I bought it, 10.4.5, and then reinstalled Pro Tools 7.0. For some reason the Mac (mini) is having trouble "talking" to the M Box2. None of the lights flash up and if I go into the Audio/Midi set up in Utilities, it does not recognize the M Box2 so it's obviously not being read. I think that somehow the CoreAudio Driver is not being installed properly when I install Pro tools, but I'm not sure. I do desperately need some help as I have some major job deadlines!! Thanks!!!!!
