Sonic Studio OS X Premastering/DDP app!

Harmony Central weblink

Sonic Studio announces native OS X app for CD premastering w/ DDP format. And supposedly it's not too expensive either. Wonder what that means. Guess we'll find out soon. This is excellent!

I'm not sure if it creates DDP files, or just opens pre existing ones though. It says "Load and save to DDP format", but maybe it's only useful for mastering houses that already have DDP archives.

Think it's just a DDP player with PQ manipulation, not the long-awaited native mastering software from Sonic...

If you go to the Sonic Website, there is an announcement about SonicX and a new low-cost CD mastering app as well (SS-CD). I'm sure more info will be at the show...

Okay, that's cool then. Hopefully they'll have that OS X CD Mastering app out soon. I had already built a Windows XP machine to run Sequoia, but I have yet to invest in the software. Guess I'll wait a little longer and compare the price and features of the new upcoming Sonic Studio app.

I'm sure it won't do all the multitrack and mixing stuff that Sequoia does though, but I'm not looking for one program to do everything. Looking into Nuendo for multitrack.

At least Sonic Studio is finally writing native OS X apps, and they are not bundling them with stupid expensive hardware.

I Already posted it elsewhere in Gearslutz.
There is a DDP player/editor application.
A PQ coding, DDP writer application
and

a OSX native (meaning written for OSX) working with external firewire hardware for recording, mixing and supposedly mastering with tons of DSP, high track count and VST and AU plug in support.

I want one..... maybe it even sounds better than PT

Also coming an OSX version od Sonic Studio (working with the same hardware I assume).
Info is cattered all around and cloudy at best (difficult to really inderstand the real differences between the two pre mastering apps)

Anybody who has a chance to see the stuff at AES pls, pls report!

Indeed, the AES link on the Sonic Studio page makes mention of a multitrack DAW w/ VST/AU plug support, as well as the low cost CD mastering app. "DDP for the masses" I believe it said. Way cool!

Think I'll get a lightweight MIDI sequencer to run along side the nice new Sonic native DAW. But for how ong will it remain vaporware? Yes, please report.

Sonic was always best at software, or so I've heard.
