I'd like to buy stock in the company. I've been using EZ Drummer in Logic and our clients are really happy. The reaction to the music we're doing now with EZ Drummer is fantastic. Great sounding product and easy to use. What more could you want? EZ is only $150 street and Superior may be $300. These are prices I pay to a live drummer to track on one original song so the software is really a good deal.

If Superior 2.0 is like EZ on steroids then I'll buy it as soon as I can.

Let me first say that I betatest for Toontrack. I don't want anyone to say I'm a fanboi talking out of my a$$ (although I may still be ;^).

I think of S2 as a great deal like 'EZD on steroids'. There have always been a few things in EZD that I wish could be delved into a bit deeper. I wish that kit pieces could be tuned (especially the toms and snares). I wish I could control the volume of the individual cymbals in the overheads and room mics. These things can be done in S2.

There's so much that can be done inside the S2 engine and there's so much control available to tweak the sounds (ADSR, effects, bussing, channel presets) that things are wide open.

I'm excited.

I think anybody who preorders something, actually putting money down, is a numbskull.

Didn't we learn from the Tony Belmont DVD debacle? tutt

Unless the discount for preorders is over 50%--of what I'd pay street, I'm sorry, I will continue to earn interest on my cash, and you can have it when you actually ship usable product.

How many MIDI grooves does Superior come with? Is it supposed to replace EZDrummer, or is ezdrummer meant to be used in conjuction with Superior?

Especially when you consider S2.0 as been continually postponed for 6 months. I will probably be October when it actually comes out.

Yeah, the only value in a pre-order is to get a discount, unless your buying a Wii Fit.

I agree with the pre-order question. Why pay the same amount now for something you will get later? And actually, with the professional discount I get from GC, I will pay less later and get it the same day I pay for it. If there was an incentive to pay earlier, that would make much more sense to me. Like a group buy.

ahh, true...but i get a damn good deal anyway only needing the upgrade and I pre-ordered because it's taken them so long to get the thing released I don't want to have to wait any longer if it sells out!

When EZ Drummer was announced, I pre-ordered it I remember it was delayed a lot of times. I don't think I'm going to pre-order Superior 2.0 but if I like what I hear I might end up upgrading to it.

Thumbs up

BFD2 is nowhere near Superior 2.0.. I hate to say this being a BFD customer..But, it's true..

That being said, my Favorite Vsti Drum(s) are the Addictive Drums.. These drums are big, the GUI is Brilliant!! At a Price that's hard to beat..

This is what both Toontrack and BFD are gunning after (Addictive Drums)..

No.. That just means you just paid to be a "Beta" Tester..People who pre-order on software really need their head examined..

Really? I found Addictive Drums to be kind of weak. They had a good first appeal but in the end I decided I didn't prefer them.

Weak in what way? Those are some very big, tight well recorded drums. I think there are 2 camps of soft drum users.

-The BFD camp..Raw, unfinished drums, that can be be processes later.

-The Addictive/Tootrack camp. Polished Drums ready to mixed, with little processing.

Both a good..Just depends on how you want to work..

Back to Addictive. Those drums are as good as I've ever heard. And, they trigger well with E-Drums..

ah but toontrack has both the polished drums and unfinished products. the superior and custom & vintage libraries are completely raw and unprocessed sounds. more so than some of the bfd libraries.

the ezdrummer libraries are the polished sounds.

superior 2.0 is not only providing completely new drum samples, but also allow the ezdrummer libraries and superior libraries to work in one interface.

It could be viewed as charitable to the company...but this company is big enough to finance itself through shipment I believe.

According to TT regarding US S2's shipments to stores from the printers:

"The US ones are shipped from the
within the US from the date that
they arrive in WA state.

I don´t know when that´ll
be exactly but my guess is around
the 28th/29th if the printers
schedule holds.

With regard to Custom & Vintage, that's completely wrong, the sounds aren't raw.

With regards to S2 being repeatedly delayed by 6 months, that doesn't ring true either. I remember one delay so far, from NAMM (late January) to late June.

January to March, March to May, May to June hardly constitutes 'continually delayed by 6 months'. More like continually delayed by two months.
Also, from the official Toontrack postings on the website, there has been few official release announcements, therefore fewer than you claim postponents.
I take your point in general about the couple of postponents they've admitted to, but 'continually' and '6 months' is not exactly accurate IMO.

As a big fan of DFH and Custom and Vintage, I will definitely upgrade to 2.0 since the price is so low. But, for the last few months I have been using Mixosaurus, and I have to say, I just can't imagine using another sample set for the bread and butter projects, and I can't imagine a sample set being any better. I know there are other kits in 2.0 so "different" will be paramount to "better" in that regard, but these Mixosaurus drums are just ****ing amazing.
