What VI's can be used with Pro Tools MIX?

Please list Virtual Instruments and versions that cand be used with Pro Tools 6.4.1 on MIX system and OSX 10.3.9

I know Reason and some NI stuff should work but I don't know what versions to look for. RTAS or TDM all welcome.

"is nice" For those who don't know I run MIX in Chassis with G5 PCI. Response and video redraw is much faster as I hoped. I have better than stock video card too - with 256mb memory. I love the fact I can run FW800 drives now. I tried to push it a bit and was able to safely run 10 RenVerb's as RTAS. As I have 6 mix cards + 3 oldschool dsp farms I will not likely need to run plugins as RTAS but some Virtual Instruments would be nice.

topic about G5 experiences is here: Pro Tools Mix with PPC G5 (PCI) any ideas how?

So nobody remembers anymore? And in case you are wondering - yes I did ask NI directly and they told they do not "support" other than current verions... All I asked were the version numbers...

I use G-Force VI

Hi, I have a Protools Mix 5 rig with a G4 Dual 1,25 GHz under OS 10.3.9 and I use many G-Force virtual Instruments like M-Tron, Minimonsta, Imposcar and Oddity. I also use DrumCore V.2,0 and Reason 3 with rewire. The problem with newer VI is that they only support 10.4 and up and our systems are blocked at 10.3

I went to 10.3.9 because of that. Many of these VI needed at least 10.3.9. Of course, Digi doesn't recommend this system and doesn't do any thing to make our system compatible with 10.4 either. They only want us to upgrade to HD and give them a fortune in return.

One question: I saw that you use a G5 with tour set-up. Is it a good improvement in performance over a G4 like mine when using ProTools? I was thinking of buying one and was not too sure if it was worth it. I read (probably from your thread) that it was limited to less than 64 tracks.

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the VI suggestions, these are new to me (except for Reason) and I will check them out. Please let me know the version numbers if it is not a big problem.
About G5's it is OK, I like the speed as I said and the FW800 is cool. My G4 was dual-boot dual1G MDD so it did not have FW800 like your does and was overall slower machine than yours. I think if you are ok with how fast your machine does the offline things then you should stick to it. I was going crazy over mine so for me the G5 is better and worth it. About the issues all I can say is that there is less PCI headroom and I need to be careful. 64 tracks can be done, but there can't be any other USB devices attached the keyboard, ilok and mouse cause USB devices eat up PCI headroom for some reason. Also as I sometimes need more than 64 tracks I create more and use assigned voices - that also can be a problem as every time you create another track it will eat up a slice of PCI headroom resulting in error if PCI usage gauge peaks in red.
