Leopard/pro tools, what to do?

So i just bought a new Imac, and installed pro tools 7.0, then tried to open it (not realizing the leopard/pro tools compatibility problem). It said "pro tools hardware is either not installed or used by another program" did anyone else get the same message?

I just read some info and it sounds like pro tools LE is not compatible with Leopard yet. Some people say it works, others don't. A friend said it will work as long as you have version 7.3, and others say if you install tiger onto the computer, then it will work. I tried installing tiger onto my Imac, and it said "can not install on this computer" so that won't work.

So I'm trying to figure out...

Should I return the Imac and wait until it is compatible (even though i really need a faster computer and its been this long, who knows how much longer)?

Or try and get a copy of 7.3 (assuming it works)?

any other help/info/advice is much appreciated.

I'm running 7.4 on an Leopard iMac .. there are a couple of quirks, .. but
on the whole .. it works just fine.

Digi posted on the DUC that they plan to have Leopard support any day
now .. so that will be nice.

well thats good news, so, once its compatible, i assume I can't run 7.0 anymore right? I would have to buy the upgrade to 7.4 or possibly a newer-leopard version?

Its been a long wait for many with an 'official' Leopard release.
The solution is either to try the current version on Leopard as some have
had success or install XP/Vista on bootcamp and you shouldn't have a prob running PT7 on that. I'm surprised that many who have been waiting for a long time haven't just installed XP.

I can't seem to get XP installed on my new 8-core mac pro. Installs fine on my imac but for some reason the XP installer keeps crashing on the mac pro. Maybe I'm the only one running into that problem as I haven't really heard anyone else have problems with boot camp. I was able to get the same installation to work with parallels but that wouldn't run a DAW too well.

I'm not sure .. sometimes they'll go back one release .. but on this one
(given the troubles they've apparently encountered), I suspect they'll
just support 7.4

Probably yes, but an upgrade for an LE version has always been around $75, so that's not too expensive... you've got to wait for a compatible version, or have faith on the words from others that 7.3 will work...

Emfrank, i'm not familiar with the newer 8 core-machines and XP.
I've heard issues with the 8 cores using UAD and Duende with Leopard on
another thread. Are you running PT? Did you try the DUC?
