Red face turning internal instruments to audio in logic

I notice in logic 8 when I use internal instruments it shows them as midi info not actual audio like if used an external fantom or motif. How can I make these tracks actual audio, as I am thinking this will be necessary if I want to transfer the files to pro tools later.

Yes. You should solo the track and bounce it to an audio file (be sure to disable any effects on the track, busses and master so that you get a pure, unprocessed track. Import the bounced audio and place it on a new audio track, route as needed. You can then CMD-drag the effects from the instrument track inserts to the audio track to move them, or Opt+Cmd-Drag to copy them (takes more processing power).

I sure hope that render/bounce to track is a new feature in the next release.

Export > Tracks as Audio. The only ones you have to solo and do individually are multi-output instruments.

Yeah bounce or "render" the track to audio, then put the resulting audio onto an audio track, and de-activate the original virtual instrument and plugins to conserve DSP. What I do is to make some renders, then save that version of the song in a special folder in case I need to re-render later, then completely deactivate the original instruments and save the song under a new file name.

I usually just record the instrument track to an audio track without bouncing.

Set output of the instrument track to a bus and set the input of the audio track to the same bus, record enable the audio track and hit record.

i also prefer realtime bounce. i mean, you're just going to have to check it for errors in realtime, right?
