Best of both worlds

There are some folks who have issues with the Lynx AES16 with certain DAWs. I would get an RME AES card & a Lynx Aurora 16.

Then you have the best of both worlds.

RME drivers and hardware are rock solid, Lynx actually HAS and HAVE HAD hard hardware and software problems... i remember trouble with the AES card in the past.. and well... aurora converters... you know, they sell lots... ofcourse it's the cheappest option direct pluggable to protools... might it be helping sales?

Soundwise... you'll be able to find clips on all this gear through the forum... listen en choose for yourself.

Yeah, the RME converters leave alot to be desired.

Actually; does anyone know of anyone using the RME AES

directly with the aurora?

Maybe the aurora actually would work that way...
(I don't know all the aurora issues; but if I remember correctly
there are complains about every interface to it but the AES... FW,PTHD, ADAT..)

ADAT doesn't have the bandwidth, that's what sucks about it.

I have been using 2 Multiface II in sync with a Mac Pro on the PCIe cards .
Before that the same 2 MultifaceII on a PC with PCI cards.

The reason being that I won't use mic pres on any of these interfaces, and use all outboard quality pres, so I am line in only to the RME and Mac, and don't need the interface to have a mic pre. I bet part of the judgement call might include the mic pres with some people. I will agree with that on pretty much any interface. The converters are top notch I think. Rock solid and you can run up to 3 units for 24 IO with no issues.

I'm happy with Lynx.

In fact these both were done using the LynxOne. How old is that thing now?

I haven't had any issues with converters.

I have the RME ADI-8 DS and a UA 2192. The RME are excellent converters, no matter what anyone says. Like the other poster said, there are many other things that will make a bigger difference in sound. RME makes great stuff. Don't listen to the hype.

Question

can someone please elaborate on what exactly these aforementioned "major" issues with the Lynx Aurora converters are?

something to do with AD or DA channels slipping out of sync / phase with each other?

remarkably enough, i haven't yet come across it in all of my time spent / wasted on audio forums but believe me, i am very interested to know, since i bought them recently and now use them every day for my professional work.

i think that they sound great, but... now you have me very worried.
