Apple recalls 28,000 PowerBook batteries due to fire hazard

Apple is recalling 28,000 PowerBook batteries after it was discovered that the batteries could overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Apple has so far received four reports of these batteries overheating and no injuries have been reported. Nonetheless it urges users to stop using your battery and to order a replacement battery immediately. If users do continue to use your battery, they should not leave it unattended and check for signs of overheating.

The affected batteries are from 15in PowerBooks sold this year. The batteries have the model number A1045 and serial numbers that begin with HQ404, HQ405, HQ406, HQ407, or HQ408.

For further information on identifying a battery and ordering a replacement visit www.apple.com/uk.
