Primitive Synth Sound

I'm looking for a really old school (50s to60s) sounding synth. I'm working on a classical composition, so I want avoid the techno/dance sort of stuff. Too many frills. I'd like to stay under 100 dollars if possible.

I forgot to mention, it needs to be midi. I wasn't very clear with what I wanted, I'm going for a kind of Radiohead, Boards of Canada type sound.

YouTube - Kid A Radiohead

Thanks

midi came out in 1983.
for cheap "classical"/orchestral i'd look for a used proteus module.

Everybody wants to sound like BOC but cant , listen carefully to their music as it seems to me they use alot of organ sounds with heaps of reverb/delay on them.
Pad wise i can get close to a BOC type vibe with absynth 4....

This guy gets close to a BOC sound and i was suprised when he told me he only uses reason , its not the synths you use but how you use them.

you should also look towards some of the soniccouture sound librarys and the kontakt scripts they make to produce this vibe...

PS Radiohead have been known to use a Mellotron...
