Hey can't find my old post,, did someone delete it?

anyways can anyone tell me if you can use a scope card with it's plugin's in xtc mode, while running cubase with another asio soundcard?

does getting a scope card for plugin's make sense?

I think that the Creamware cards require ASIO to do the routing in XTC mode so it probably wouldn't work.

On a related note, Creamware was really ahead of their time in terms of engineering and way back in early 2000 I had latency at 7ms! Their synths were f*(cking great too. Unfortunately, charging what the do for a few measly Sharc dsps is just not worth it and their new firewire platform is almost $3000! Hopefully they will move to Blackfin. If they do I would love to return to the Creamware platform.

Actually, the new Sonic Core (ex Creamware) Xite uses Tigersharc which are cosiderably more powerful than the original sharc family. I think blackfin was designed more for gadget-oriented products that need audio streaming like smartphones and such.

That's why Sonic Core claims the new Xite is 10x more powerful than the Scope. It's pricey but it also serves an audio interface plus it's got an x-tdm port.

I would be looking at getting a luna, or pulsar just for plugins/synths for use with another card in cubase.

what is the difference between a Creamware vst plugs and UAD or Powercore vst plugs? Can't you load them no matter which soundcard you have?

I've heard rumors that they might not render properly...

Also there might be gui problems??

??

Ask here: Planet Z :: Index

Scope works in real-time only, no rendering possible, and the plug-ins work only on the Sonic-Core platform HW. The sound quality is second to none though, and the mixing/routing environment is truly great. If you're after serious creation tools, then it's worth considering. I wouldn't start with less than 6 dsps, unless you're really tight on money.

Sorry, I'm talking about XTC mode, where you can use the plug-ins to work in Cubase, or other software. Would they work while using a different asio driver than the spl hardware? (In XTC mode of course)

Pulsar's can be found for about 300 bucks, usually with a bunch of plugs...

No, asio driver cannot be shared between different HW. I've never used XTC mode, so I'm not sure what's involved there. I'm sure that no rendering is possible tho, and no asio sharing.

Scope has amazing sound quality, at very low latency.
Dedicated DSP-driven plugins are great for mixing outside of the host through Scope's environment.

You can also mix out of your host into another instance of your host during mixdown.

Scope plugins only work within Scope's environment or inside your host (using the XTC mode).

There are no GUI problems.

V5 is due any day now as well as the much-anticipated Xite!

Fun stuff.

Welcome to SONIC CORE
