Equaliser Plugin Favourite – MAC & PC - POLL

Tritone Digital: 3 Votes
Roger Nichols: 1 Votes
Apulsoft APeq: 2 Votes

hi all

there’s often many threads with people asking which the best Comp & Eq, etc, plugins are so I can only choose 10 in a poll but choose you favourite from this list which should help people.

DUE TO THE LIMITATION ON POLL OPTIONS, YOU CAN ONLY LIST 10 ITEMS SO I'M SORRY IF YOU FAVOURITE DOESN'T FEATURE BUT PLEASE MENTION THEM IN THE THREAD

While your intentions are good, that's part of the problem. For instance, not everyone has all these plugs or has access(UAD for example) and people tend to favor what they have as a sub concious defense mechanism. A second problem is the poll limitation. While Iv'e either heard most of these EQ's through demo's or the studio I sometimes work, my hands down native favorites(sans UAD which I don't have) and go-to EQ's(TL Audio EQ VST and Voxengo Curve) are not even on the list. I'm sure I'm not alone here. I think people should submit their favorites even if their not on the list, which they'll probably do anyway. On a personal observation, I'm perplexed that WaveArts and IK Multimedea even made the list considering what's out there. While they don't neccessarily make bad products, IK for example released that EQ ages ago and haven't released anything new in that regard in years.

i appreciate your observations however you can only list 10 items in the poll. i also wanted to list plugins available for both mac, pc & universal binary and preferably in a variety of formats - the voxengo stuff you mentioned isn't available for mac!

some people love the wavearts stuff, i personally didn't feel much for the trackplug but that doesn't mean it shouldn't feature. my intention was to list all the options available however this isn't possible.

like many i am bored with new threads started maybe 2 a week about your favourite plugin this or that so i'm hoping this list will help people see what is used most and preferred however there is nothing stopping people from reading the existing threads to see more options - afterall it's just another thread

The Hydratone is my favorite at the moment. From the list I'd pick Waves V-series, UAD Neve or Sonalksis.

Good thread I think for future reference-however-why not cover all the bases and slit into 2 polls/threads making 20 EQs?

Ever since I realized that IK's compressor shifts phase like crazy (unlike all other plugs that I have on my computer) I find it hard to trust anything in T-Racks, unless it's for some effect.

Not that they are my go to plugs, but sometimes I do not want to load UAD, or prefer something different.

To answer, my fav EQ has got to be Cambridge right now for in general. There are specific EQs that I like better depending on what's flowing through 'em.

overall smooth quality ? Massenburg TDM plugin.

Waves Neve stuff is good. Same for UAD.

All in context though - my real 8200 is better, as is my real Neve console! But you knew that.

favourite in general
most people have a 'always reach for...' eq and comp and then afterwards maybe switch to something more suitable. i generally reach for the sonnox eq because it's good and i like what i can do with it but sometimes i change it for something more suitable live v-series, etc

I seem to remember reading george massenburg saying somewhere that he preferred the plugin over the hardware unit, unfortunately I don't know where I read that, so it might not be true..

narco

ps. my goto eq is the URS a series

Apart from most of the UAD EQ's, I have one real favourite that hasn't got mentioned yet. Unfortunately it's a CPU hog but to me it sounds awesome:
SynthMaker EQ020 - FREEWARE!
Haven't tried the Tritone stuff yet (CPU hungry as well, i guess?).

GML for surgical stuff. Waves classics are wonderful for different things (the hi/lo filters on the V series :), SSL and API have been talked about enough, Eliosound Air EQ is also wonderful as is Hydratone. my only complaint with Hydratone is CPU usage but it does the job very well.

With the latest update the CPU usage has been really optimized I think. I loaded up about twenty instances on my MBP the other day without problems. I just LOVE the fire function on this EQ. It's the most natural and realistic 'analogifying' feature I've ever heard.
