Compressors Plugin Favourite – MAC & PC - POLL

hi all

there’s often many threads with people asking which the best Comp & Eq, etc, plugins are so I can only choose 10 in a poll but choose you favourite from this list which should help people.

thanks

DUE TO THE LIMITATION ON POLL OPTIONS, YOU CAN ONLY LIST 10 ITEMS SO I'M SORRY IF YOU FAVOURITE DOESN'T FEATURE BUT PLEASE MENTION THEM IN THE THREAD

Voxengo

Well, I think there is one big omission from the poll: Voxengo

There's also on entrant that's very good but not common:
Magix's AM-suite. I would definitely vote for AM-track. I would also go fan-boy crazy over AM-munition; but that one is not available to mere mortals, I mean non-Samplitude users yet.

It is getting very high praise by those in the know, however.

voxengo nearly made the list but i decided to rather keep it for plugins that are available for mac & pc and for a variety of hosts - can only fit 10 in the poll

Sonnox Dynamics
Massey CT4
UAD comps
Chandler TG Limiter

Those and the dynamics on the Waves SSL pretty much cover the ITB compression needs for me.

I like the uad stuff (at least the ones I tried), but my favourite compressor for almost everything (especially in the vintage-mode on drums) is the Am-track. I might prefer a different comp on some occasions(Fairchild on Drumbus or La2a on vocals), but the Am-track always delivers good results. The other plug ins from Am-Suite are quite good as well.

I've not tried too many software comps, but I voted for the Wavearts. At least I prefer it over the Waves rencomp.

I voted for the Sonalksis, price and quality point of view. Waves SSL G buss is awesome... price... ridiculous bs first class. Sorry for my language, but there is a better way to get the same "sound" and its right here under youre nose... Click here and you will find somebody called "Lagerfeldt" that used the standard Logic Compressor from the Studio/Pro 8 to emulate the WAVE SSL G compressor... Difference? Non, for the most people... O wait there is, the price, its FREE.

Hard to pick a fav compressor... it depends. Love LA-3A, but also hate it sometimes.

I like the Fairchild, I like the Cubase Dynamics as well suprisingly.

McDSP MC2000, Logic's own compressor, and the SSL stuff. I'm happy.

Unless you mean HARDWARE now.....;)

All the choices are companies, except for Waves (series) and URS (a single plug-in). I wonder if it would be different if other compressors from these companies were in?

well for waves, the Q stuff is ok for some surgical stuff (as is C1) but it's not a great eq so wouldn't be rated very highly. the URS CSP seems to me include most of the algo from their other plugins but i've never tried them so i could be wrong! CSP is nice though

My fave is the Massey CT4, I think it's head and shoulders above the competition. I also have it on the 2bus for most mixes.
