whats the best way to convert a wav file into an mp3

I also would like to know if there are an prefered brands of software for this task. When going through myspace I always wonder how some peoples tracks sound a lot better than others in terms of degredation through mp3 conversion.

Well... I use the MP3 encoder in PT usually....

There are a bunch of mp3 encoders out there but if you have itunes you can do it without getting any additional software pretty easily.

iTunes has a really nice full featured encoder which you probably already have... Here is how to utilize it:

1. Open itunes Go to preferences > Importing and set which resolution MP3 you want to make.... I usually go 192kbps

2. Drag and drop .wav file into the library.

3. Click on song and go to Advanced > Convert Selection to Mp3

4. The song will show up right below the one you selected as an MP3... press CMD-R (on mac) to locate the file in the finder and upload it.
