Adding RAM to ease PTLE burden?

Hi Guys,

I mix on a Dual G5 2.0GHZ system with 2.5gb RAM

I have four empty slots which theoretically I could add an extra 4gb of ram to.

Question is would adding RAM improve my PTLE performance? I remember upgrading my powerbook ram and it helped but it wasn't an amazing difference.

The reason I ask is that it would seem to a quick and good value way to speed things up a little, without buying anew Mac.

I mix in the box, with URS CSPRO, Mcdsp Channel G, Analogue Channel, Revolver and Abbey Road plugs.

I had a G5 1,8 single before.
And I upgraded from 2GB Ram to 4GB.
I can tell you that it made a pretty big difference for me.
And at the price of the rams today.
I would put as much as I can afford.

Hope this helps~

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. You were running PTLE as well?

I think I'm going to put at least another 2gb in, maybe 4gb

Max out the RAM in your machine. That's the general rule of thumb, because it works. There's a reason the engineers specify/design that much capacity in the boxes, and it is not to sell more RAM.
