Purchasing new PC for PTLE--Help, Opinions?

Greetings All,

I've recently moved into the realm of PTLE 7.4. Yes, it has its quirks but I love what it can do compared to the last version of Logic on the PC (5.5). Anyhoo, with a few reverbs, a bunch of other plugins, several vocalists per song, I'm close to maxing out the power and want a little more CPU "breathing room."

Here are current PC specs:

AMD Athlon 4200+ 64X2 dual core 2.2 GHz
3 GB RAM
ASUS A8N5X Mobo

AMD has been good to me but I'm leaning towards Intel and I'm curious about what newer Intel CPUs/Mobo combos are providing great stability & plug-in counts for PTLE.

Any suggestions, opinions? Thanks very much!!

I would buy a Intel quad you can snag a barebonz system at tiger
for 550

dual core is obsolete and AMD is going under......

Awesome--thanks Allen. Didn't even know Tiger had good barebonz deals. I'm checkin it out! Do you know if XP Home will "see" all cores, or does it even matter?
