EQ shootouts

Just wondering when comparing EQ's, how much boost/cut do you use??

To even hear a difference it seems I gotta use a lot of it either way, which seems not a very practical real world example to me.

So , what hoew do you approach it?

If you can't hear the difference use your current EQ, save your money and spend it on better acoustics and monitoring first.

Then keep developing your skills and train your ears, and once you're ready spend your money on a better EQ.

About 0.3 dB +/- in some bands are audible for most trained ears in a good setup, although that won't necessarily mean you can distinguish between 0.3 dB +/- in two different EQs - except when you're dealing with very phasey or linear phase plug-in, since they can really screw up things or change things differently than you normally expect.
