Logic lowers my recordings 6db .....

I am sending audio tracks thru a bus and recording them to another track with hardware effects on them, but I always have to lift the fader 6 db to match the tracks I just recorded. Is this a setting I can change somewhere in logic? I really just want the same levels coming out that are going in.

Any help would be appreciated.

Things are the same coming in as they are coming out. Nothing to do with Logic unless you've done something yourself do lower the level.

Very easy to check by using a clean template at start up.

Probably a setting on your sound card you need to check? Such as going balanced/unbalanced on the I/O or some kind of input attenuation in your sound card control panel.

Always tell more about your setup when asking a question like this, that way it's easier to help out first time around.

I am just using a h8000Fw as an insert on a track sending the audio out then back into logic and then recording to another track. Seems like the recording would be the same level as the track that it came from? I am listening to the track that I am recording from and it is def 6 db louder than what I get when I record so can't be my sound card.

sounds like it could be panlaw

try recording straight from a bus to another track (eliminating the external path) and see if the level is lower

Perhaps I don't understand what you're saying.

But if you're going out -10dBV and coming back +4dBu you're going to experience a level difference on your sound card.

Anyway, do check pan law like suggested.

That was my first thought too when I saw that it was 6db.

Ok this works, so its is not logic but the h8000 I think. Funny thing is the level seems fine before I record it. I dont see why while listening to the track live levels are fine but after I record the level drops from what I hear while listening to the streaming track. I suppose I should boost the output level of the H8000 internally?

I am not sure, and the eventide manuals seem to tell you the bare minimum.
I know all in and outs are set to 0db by default and I haven't changed them.
