Question Guitar Amp Pro+Apogee Duet vs. Line 6 XT Live

New here and new to the digital thing. I'm use to mic'ing my tube amp for recording.

Now I'm living in a high rise and can't crank my amp any more. I've tried a few digital modeling amps. Here's where I'm at and looking for advice and probably a little education.

I have a Pod XT Live now and also Apple's Logic Pro 8 with the built-in Guitar Amp Pro. The Pod XTL comes in through the USB interface and sounds okay. I'm playing into the LP8 Amp Pro through the analog input on the mac. I like the sounds I get form Amp Pro better than my Pod. Maybe I just don't know how to setup the Pod right but it's a pain to play with such a small display.

If I understand things right I'm not recording at high quality coming through the analog input when using Amp Pro. When I use the POD XTL to play I'm recording at much higher quality. I noticed I can just pass thru the digital signal from the POD XTL and then run it into Amp Pro. So really not using the modeling of the Pod XTL.

So the question is would I be better off just getting an Apogee Duet and getting rid of the Pod XTL? Is the Pod XTL actually good and I just can't get it setup right? I'm almost exclusively play blues and some 60's rock. I'm use to playing through two tube amps, a tweed champ 5E1 and a new tweed blues junior. Like I said I can't really use them now at home because I'm in a high rise.

Thanks!

Hal

Found my answer. I've decided to pickup an Apogee Duet and go back to recording my tube amps using a isolation cabinet. This thing is way way cool!thumbsup

PLAY ONE FIRST! Isolation cabs don't sound good IMO unless they are open, and this defeats the point. So please, please, make sure the return policy is good, and/or try it first. It's not like micing your favorite amp.... Check out some other emulators? Demo them? GTR3 and Guitar Rig 3 may surprise you (depending on your style) and I MUCH prefer either over a POD XT.
